Frequently Asked Questions
Installation & Process
What are the main steps for installing a household biological wastewater treatment system with Ökotech-Home?
The installation process involves several key steps: (1) Discussing your needs, ideas, and local conditions with our team; (2) Providing essential information such as the installation site, number of users or water consumption, soil quality, groundwater presence, and whether you require commissioning; (3) Deciding if you want to reuse treated water and for what purpose; (4) Choosing who will perform the installation (Ökotech-Home or your own team); (5) Receiving a personalized offer by email, including recommended equipment and accessories; (6) Obtaining local authority permits; (7) Scheduling installation after order confirmation and deposit payment; (8) Receiving regular maintenance reminders and the option for a maintenance contract. For more details, visit our installation guide.
Is a site survey required before installation?
No, a site survey is not strictly necessary. If you know the details of your plot, you can simply provide this information and Ökotech-Home will handle the rest. However, a site survey is available upon request for technical consultation and price negotiation. Request a personalized offer here.
How quickly can the biological wastewater treatment system be installed?
Installation can be completed in as little as one day, thanks to the lightweight polypropylene construction of the system, which does not require a crane for placement.
What information do I need to provide to receive a personalized offer?
To receive a personalized offer, you should provide: the installation location, number of users or water consumption, soil quality, groundwater presence, whether you require commissioning, your plans for reusing treated water, and who will perform the installation. Submit your details via our offer request form.
Is it possible to order both the equipment and installation from Ökotech-Home?
Yes, you can order both the equipment and the installation service from Ökotech-Home. Alternatively, you may choose to handle the installation yourself. This should be specified during the offer request process.
What permits are required before installation?
Before installation, you must obtain a permit from the local authority (jegyző). The permitting process may vary by municipality. In some locations, an inspection is also required after installation and commissioning.
How do I order the selected equipment and accessories?
Once you have selected the appropriate equipment and accessories, you can place your order on our order page. After ordering, our colleagues will contact you to schedule the installation date. You will receive a deposit request with payment instructions.
Can I request regular maintenance reminders and a maintenance contract?
Yes, Ökotech-Home provides regular notifications about required maintenance and inspections. You can also sign a maintenance contract for ongoing support. More information is available on our maintenance page.
Is the installation process affected by the type of soil or groundwater presence?
Yes, the installation process takes into account the soil quality (e.g., sandy, loose, or clayey, compact) and the presence of groundwater. These factors should be provided when requesting an offer to ensure the correct system and installation method are recommended.
Can I reuse the treated wastewater, and for what purposes?
Yes, you can choose to reuse the treated wastewater, for example, for root zone irrigation. Please specify your intended use when requesting an offer so the system can be tailored accordingly.
Technical Requirements & Product Details
What is the difference between a cesspool (oldómedence) and a biological wastewater treatment system?
A cesspool is a simple storage and settling tank that does not treat wastewater and requires a large infiltration field. In contrast, a biological wastewater treatment system actively cleans the wastewater using aeration, resulting in treated water suitable for root zone irrigation. The biological system has low maintenance costs (about 1000–2000 HUF/month), does not require regular pumping, and the bacterial culture is self-sustaining. Learn more here.
What happens if the wastewater pipe exits the building at a very deep level?
The system can be installed even if the wastewater pipe exits at a deep level, such as from a basement. The biological system's inlet is below the frost line, but if the pipe is much deeper, the unit must be installed at the correct depth and may require a riser (up to 35 cm). For greater differences, a lifting tank and pump are needed. Adjusting the terrain can sometimes avoid the need for extensions. See details.
Why is the depth of the wastewater pipe exiting the building important for installation?
The exact depth of the pipe (flow bottom) is critical for proper installation. For A.B.Clear 6 and 8 systems, the inlet pipe bottom should be 51 cm from the top of the unit. Without a riser, it can connect to pipes up to 46 cm deep. The maximum riser height is 35 cm to ensure access to components. Deeper pipes require a lifting tank. For A.B.Clear 10-50, depth is also important for correct placement. More info.
What happens to the biological wastewater treatment system during a power outage?
Aeration is essential for the bacteria in the system. In winter, bacteria can survive 3-4 days without aeration; in summer, 1-2 days. After power returns, check water clarity and odor. If normal conditions do not return within 1-2 weeks, or if strong odors persist, the system may need to be emptied and restarted with fresh bacteria. Details here.
What are the main advantages of the biological wastewater treatment system?
The main advantages include: actual wastewater treatment (not just storage), low maintenance costs (about 1000–2000 HUF/month), no need for regular pumping, self-sustaining bacterial culture, and treated water suitable for root zone irrigation. The system is a scaled-down version of municipal treatment plants. Read more.
Does the system require special cleaning agents or additives?
No, the biological wastewater treatment system does not require tablets or powders. The bacterial culture is self-sustaining. For recommended cleaning agents, see our list here.
What is the typical maintenance required for the system?
The system requires regular checks and occasional removal of sludge, which collects in a bag and can be composted. Ökotech-Home provides maintenance reminders and offers maintenance contracts for ongoing support. More info.
How does the cost of a biological wastewater treatment system compare to a cesspool?
The cost of a biological wastewater treatment system is only slightly higher than building a cesspool, but it does not require ongoing pumping and offers actual wastewater treatment, resulting in long-term savings.
